Music will take you to places and give you extraordinary opportunities. It is the remedy and solace to have a beauteous and breathtaking journey, just like it did with me. I was born in a family of musicians, and singing happens to be my first love. I started learning music at a very young age through my family, and with that, I was able to experience performing. I began my musical journey as a soloist and eventually became a chorale member inside and outside the school and a performer in different events. Being a part of the choirs opened doors for me to continue learning and applying music in my life and be a scholar through music. As the years go by, the leader in me began to flourish, inspire others, and form connections with my fellow musicians and artists. Furthermore, I had participated in several competitions and experienced performing arts more.
In almost 11 years as a musician, I was able to discover my passion for teaching music. Being enrolled in the Conservatory was just a dream back then that the young Kaxandra was raving about, and now I am glad that I am in my 3rd year of being one. Taking up a degree in Music education was not my first choice when I entered the Conservatory because I was still unsure if it is my real calling or just a thought, but then I realized that I should follow my dream whatever it takes to get there. Like, Oprah Winfrey said that "Forget about the fast lane. If you really want to fly, harness your power to your passion. Honor your calling. Everybody has one. Trust your heart, and success will come to you."
I have experienced bullying because of my physical attributes but appreciated because of my music, with that that it gave me unstable mental health and somehow lowered my self-esteem. It sounds ironic but these are the main reasons why I wanted to establish a music school for Children with Special needs in which that despite their challenges and special needs, they can be an instrument of sharing music with the world. It surely will be an amazing feeling for music educators to witness the success of their students and be the change in this world.
