Yinka Popoola’s bio -

Yinka Popoola is a renowned mentor, life coach and the CEO of Empowerment Beyond Border Foundation. The mission of her foundation is to impact others through acts of kindness.

She attended Ikeja High school in Lagos for her secondary education from 1979-1985 and then went to Federal Government College, Ogbomosho for A’levels from 1985-1987. She got her bachelor’s degree in English Language from the Ogun State University in 1991. She was an elementary and high school teacher for about 15 years. She relocated to the United States in 2010 where she did her masters in English as a Second Language at the University of Idaho. She also graduated with a Human Resource Development graduate certificate (with focus on organizational leadership and counselling) from the same university.

She became a professor at the University of Idaho where she taught English as a 2nd language for 8 years at the American Language and Culture Program. She currently works for the Oregon State Government as a business and employment manager.

As a college professor, Yinka has attended and presented in many international conferences. She is a member of International Association of Workforkforce professional (IAWP) and a member of TESOL international.

Based on her educational background and experience on relocation, Yinka Popoola has a passion for mentoring and supporting students who have the vision to study outside their country. She has helped several students with their admission process and enjoys doing it. Her joy is in seeing these students settled and thriving in the new country. Her strong skills include reading and writing, reviewing students’ admission documents like their resume, statement of purpose and the college application to make sure that the put their best foot forward. She also help intending students to source for scholarships or teaching/research assistant position.

She created an admission coaching and mentoring group on Whatsapp where she coaches intending students. 2 of these students gained admission to universities in the US and UK this year and some others in the past years. She is the author of “Relocating for a Purpose, with a Vision” was born out of her passion for helping others. She also serves as the prestigious matron of Global Teachers Assembly, a role that has positioned her as the mother of teachers.
