KAYODE ARIYO(Ph.D.)
Kayode Ariyo hails from Ilogbo-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Nigeria. He attended Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University), where he bagged a B. Ed. degree in English in 1989. He later attended Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, where he won the Federal Government Scholarship Awards (Phase II) Programme in 2003 for his M.A. English programme. He successfully completed the course in 2004. Arising from his love for journalism, he attended the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja, where he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in 2013. Kayode Ariyo bagged a Ph.D. degree in English Language with special emphasis on Multimodal Discourse Analysis at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko in 2014. He is one of the very few scholars in the field of Multimodal Discourse Analysisin Nigeria.
He was appointed as Administrative Officer II in 1995 in the Registry Department of the Polytechnic. As an ace administrator, he was given an accelerated promotion to the post of Administrative Officer I in 1997 in recognition of his outstanding performances in the discharge of his duties in the Governing Board and General Administration Division of the Registry. In March, 1999, he was appointed as Lecturer III in the defucnt Department of Liberal and Extra-Mural Studies. He rose to the position of a Chief Lecturer in October, 2014.He served as the Head, English Language Unit in the defunct Department of General Studies, for three academic sessions.He is currently the pioneer Head, Department of Languages.
Among others, he has taught and examined the following courses: Use of English, Communication in English, Literature in English, Literary Appreciation and Public Speaking, Technical Report Writing, Technical English and Business Communication. He is an erudite scholar who knows his onions well. He is versatile and highly resourceful. He displays a high level of initiative and drive in any responsibility or duty given to him. He is blessed with the sound mind of an academic. Indeed, he is a talented teacher, organised and well composed.
Kayode Ariyo was the Supervisor, Ibillo and Benin Study Centres of the Continuing Education Centre, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo from 2007 to 2011. He also served on several committees at the departmental, faculty and institutional levels. Some of the committees are: Polytechnic Anthem Committee, 2011/ 2012 academic session, Faculty’s Committee on mounting of new programmes and change of name, 2012/20
