Kaz Maezawa

After graduating in journalism from Sophia University in Tokyo, Kaz began his career at TAI/DMB&B. After 7 years of working in media and account management divisions, handling the clients including United Distillers and Procter and Gamble, he moved to Nike Japan Corp as Advertising Manager. After winning many advertising awards he progressed to Regional Brand Communication Manager, Asia Pacific based in Nike's headquarters in Portland, Oregon in 1999. Whilst in this role he helped Asia Pacific to become the fastest growing region for Nike. After 3 years+, he moved back to Tokyo to assume the role of Brand Marketing Manager for Nike Japan, managing all brand marketing functions such as advertising, digital, event, retail, etc. After a couple of years he launched the strategy team called Brand Management Group, and became the first Brand Director, overseeing category marketing and business strategies as well as overall Nike brand strategy and integration in Japan.
In 2007, he left Nike to become Founding Partner of Naked Communications Tokyo, a company manifested in London in 2000 who provides ambitious marketers with radical solutions. In the past 12 years, Naked Tokyo has been growing, demonstrating its unique positioning, as a creative, strategic company whilst being the sole Naked office in the world as of 1st of July 2019.
