Juneau, Alaska

Katie Moritz is a St. Louis, Mo., native who found herself on a trek to Alaska a couple months after graduating with journalism and geography degrees from the University of Missouri - Columbia. She spent two years covering everything (but most notably state politics and the legislative session) for the Juneau Empire in Alaska's capital city.

She's now employed as a production assistant at Twin Cities Public Television, where she will help create its weekly news and public affairs show, Almanac.

Katie has historically been an education reporter, working for such dailies as The Virginian-Pilot, The Capital in Annapolis, Md., and the Columbia Missourian, but enjoys finding stories of every stripe. She loves reporting but hopes to someday become an editor of any kind, anywhere. She is freakishly well-acquainted with the AP Stylebook.

With a colossal interest in social justice, Katie has been known to participate in MU Vagina Monologues, as well as tutor underprivileged elementary school students in reading and math.

When not working she can be found shopping and bragging about the deals she’s found. It’s very annoying. But her friends like her anyway.
