Vincent Connor
A native of Winter Park, Florida, bass-baritone Vincent Connor is sought out for his dramatic interpretations and rich timbre. He holds a bachelor’s degree and performance certificate from The College of Music at Florida State University as well as a Master’s Degree in voice and stage direction from The University of Arizona. Currently he is pursuing post-graduate study at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
At home both on the operatic and musical theater stages, Mr. Connor has mastered the roles of Pooh-bah in The Mikado, Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors, Thomas Putnam in The Crucible, Geronimo in Il Matrimonio Segreto, Superintendent Budd in Albert Herring, and Leporello in Don Giovanni, among others. As an apprentice artist, Mr. Connor has appeared with Asolo Opera Festival, College Light Opera, and Wichita Grand Opera, where he will sing Lodovico in Otello and cover Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro this coming season.
In addition to his on-stage experience, Mr. Connor has also established himself in the directing world. This past spring he brought Puccini’s Suor Angelica to the University of Arizona Opera Theatre stage in a production which Living at the Opera praised for its “...remarkable directorial touches.” A passionate believer in opera outreach and education, Mr. Connor has continually directed opera scenes throughout his career. As an assistant director, he has been involved with productions such as Sweeney Todd, Trouble in Tahiti, Little Shop of Horrors, and The Barber of Seville. In the coming season, Mr. Connor’s directorial responsibilities will include Die Lustige Witwe, A Night at the Museum, and directing productions of The Kansas City Opera Institute. Due to his extensive experience on the stage, Mr. Connor has the uncanny ability to create productions, which strike the balance between extreme passion and sincere expression.
