Katherine Cure

Perth, Western Australia

My name is Katherine and I am a marine ecologist from the Colombian Caribbean, but consider myself a multifascetic world citizen. I am passionate about the sea, and in particular about fish, love engaging with the public, educating others, and communicating my science in a fun way. My interests are mainly in fish ecology and their population dynamics, along different oceans, latitudes and systems, looking at how they are impacted by human use, existing habitat and habitat alterations. This passion has taken me to study rocky and coral reef systems across some pretty awesome places like Colombia, Belize, Costa Rica, Micronesia, Philippines and Australia, and made me realize that the ocean is a pretty varied system, but with very similar problems, most of which have to do with people and how we engage with using and managing our resources.
