Based in Houston, Texas, Dr. Kim de la Cruz focuses on aortic surgery as a Baylor College of Medicine assistant professor of surgery. Experienced in a range of complex cardiovascular procedures, from aortic root surgery to thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair, Dr. Kim de la Cruz is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the International Scientific Advisory Board of the Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia.

Well published in his field, Dr. de la Cruz has authored numerous book chapters including two in Bonser, Pagano, Haverich, and Mascaro’s 2014 Controversies in Aortic Dissection and Aneurysmal Disease. He also contributed a chapter on descending thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic surgery to the ninth edition of Sabiston & Spencer Surgery of the Chest. He has given a number of lectures on thoracic and cardiovascular surgery topics at the Texas Heart Institute.

Dr. de la Cruz completed a thoracic surgery residency at the combined Texas Heart Institute / Baylor College of Medicine program under Drs. Denton A. Cooley and Joseph S. Coselli. At present, Dr. Kim de la Cruz is a member of the Cooley Hands Society and is also active with the Michael E. DeBakey International Surgical Society.
