Robert Cameron has over 31 years of experience with KONE, a multinational corporation, culminating in his 6 years as Managing Director of the Australasian region of the company.Robert joined KONE as an electrical apprentice, and he gained a wide range of skills working on projects ranging from complex electronics through to large industrial machinery, initially working as a tradesman and subsequently running large construction projects across Australasia, commissioning equipment and managing certification with relevant statutory bodies.KONE identified Robert’s self-motivation, resourcefulness and energy and quickly promoted him into management roles in the Maintenance and Servicing divisions where he gained a broad range of commercial and operations skills, as well as an understanding of the importance of providing a high quality customer experience.The next stage of Robert’s career was his appointment into senior management roles within KONE Australasia. The first of these was General Manager of the NSW and ACT business, the largest region within KONE Australasia.Robert’s success in this role led to his appointment as Director of the Maintenance and Service division. He successfully grew the business during this time and was then given the challenge of turning around one of KONE’s fledging and loss making divisions, which he achieved within 2 years.In 2009, at the height of the Global Financial Crisis, Robert was promoted to Managing Director of KONE Australasia. During this turbulent time Robert recognised the need to stabilise the business without compromising the fundamentals of the KONE brand, a premium product and service and quality customer experience. Robert also recognised the opportunity to make the changes required to place KONE in a position of strength relative to its competitors, and capitalise on the recovery in the Australasian market post the Global Financial Crisis.Under Robert’s guidance as Managing Director, KONE consolidated its position as market leader, continually redefining company strategy and driving a forward thinking and agile team, able to nimbly react to changes in market conditions.
