I am Professor and Chair of the Political Science department at Simpson College, south of Des Moines. Simpson is home of the Culver Policy Center and our national champion debate team. It is an ideal place to study politics. I teach courses in U.S. politics and public policy, and in 2020 will be doing research on clergy in Iowa politics.

My political commentary has been cited in national news outlets like The New York Times, CNN.com, USA Today, The New Yorker, and National Public Radio's "All Things Considered." Here in Iowa, I am a regular on "River to River" on Iowa Public Radio.
