There is “nothing” I love more than the thrill of being in the in a group of thousands of other people, crammed into a tiny stadium section, cheering on a team of a sport that I don’t understand in the slightest. There is “nothing” better than the eardrum-shattering volume of thousands of voices screaming their chants, taunts, and insults. There is “nothing” I love more than having people bumping and pushing me out of the way to get where they desire with little respect for those they are obstructing. As I hope you notice from my word choice and unique punctuation, that is not me at all. In all honesty, I am the type of person that most people would consider socially awkward, unable to hold a conversation on any meaningful level. I can fake being social, but I eventually reach my limit and seek shelter from the storm of introductions and conversation starters. I find refuge in music. Music is my way of expressing my feelings in a way that words can’t fully accomplish on their own. In grade school, I spent almost 10 years in some kind of choir. Singing is an activity that I enjoy. I sing when I am happy. I sing when I am sad. In my free time, you can find me either on my phone or my laptop, recreating and/or composing tunes that I hear in my head. Music to me is a refuge, enjoyment, relaxation, a way of life.
