Keidi Awadu

Keidi (pronounced kee-dee) Obi Awadu--known as The Conscious Rasta for his expertise in the area of Pan African development--is positioning for great agrarian success, due to his adeptness in agriculture's role in the strength and vitality of a nation's people and its economy. Keidi's passion to educate the masses on sustainability principles has led him on various journeys: ten years and counting as a radio broadcast journalist, authorship of nearly 30 books, philanthropic efforts towards African missions, hands-on building of self-determination communities called Kujichagulia Villages; and nutritional consultant as an award-winning Raw Food Chef.

Keidi entered the workforce in the early 1970's operating as a Cyrogenics Technician in reproductive technology. That chemistry background, coupled with a holistic approach to nutrition and wellness, has facilitated his easing into his current role of advocate for the redistribution of income-generating property from urbanization to ruralism, upon which agriculture is the sustaining foundation. In this role, he has managed teams that build orchards, gardens and rural housing here in the U.S. and abroad.

His early adult years were spent traveling nationally and internationally as a musician and music producer. Next, came decades of researching, funding and disseminating life-changing information through media. Proof of his dedication to those career paths, as well as to his current social movement, is in his numerous accolades. One such recognition that he regards highly is his initiation as a Priest Kheper Ra of the Sacred Order of the Sons of Ra.

Some of Keidi's other accolades include: 1995 Image Award, presented by the Long Beach Afrikan Study Group; 2003 Image Award, presented by The African Firefighters In Benevolent Association; 2006 Exemplary Community Service and Trailblazer Award, presented by Sovereignity Inc.; 2011 First Place prize as a gourmet raw food chef; 2012 Ida B. Wells Award in Journalism, presented by Mothers For Africa; and a 2013 African Goodwill Inductee, presented by African Focus, Inc.
