Keith Ward
Keith Ward
Keith Ward has practised as a Sports Therapist since 1995. He has taught at a number of colleges and universities, and since 2009 has been a full-time lecturer on the BSc Sports Therapy programme at University College Birmingham (UCB), UK. He runs a small private practice in Cannock, Staffordshire. His first book, Hands-On Sports Therapy (Cengage Learning, 2004), proved popular with students of sports therapy and became a recommended text for many courses. His second book, the Routledge Handbook of Sports Therapy, Injury Assessment and Rehabilitation, is due to be published in September 2015. Since 2012, he has been Managing Editor of the Journal of Sports Therapy (‘the JST’). He is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists (SST), a member of REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals), a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Keith holds a biomedical BSc Rehabilitation Studies degree; Diplomas in Sports Therapy, Sports Massage, Exercise Referral, Naturopathy and Acupuncture; and an MA in Learning and Teaching (expected June 2015). Keith considers that his apparent seriousness is balanced by his attempted humorousness. He is relatively functionally fit (for his age, genetics, body type, lifestyle, environment and situation). He loves being with his family, and in his spare time enjoys being active in the Staffordshire countryside and also in his studio working on creative musical projects. He is also an avid follower of Aston Villa FC – but obviously not for fun!
