Singer/Song Writer/ Visual Artist Keko was born in Chile and has been prominently placed in Victoria’s Latin music scene for some time. His passion for Latin American culture, and in particular, the indigenous culture, began early on, when his family first migrated through the Andean countries of Bolivia and Ecuador prior to arriving in Australia in 1986. After studying Latin American folklore at the Pablo Neruda Cultural Centre, his interests turned to music, as he took up singing, guitar and various traditional instruments, such as the charango, quena & bombo leguero. Keko has played with traditional Andean groups, such as Alejandro Vargas’ ‘Apurima’, as well as with contemporary Latin groups such as Vatos, Azucar, Rumberos, Los Cabrones, and more recently, San Lazaro, Orulas & Son Tres. Through the years, Kekoski has developed a holistic view of music and is now an accomplished songwriter, drawing from his cultural background, knowledge of Latin American folklore, experience in musicianship, and the synchronization of the many world cultures that combine to create the unique sound for his original music. Keko has recorded two albums to this date; "Mestizos Urbanos" and "Serendipity" with www.sanlazaro.com.au Keko is trained in Advertising, Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Marketing. He has previously worked with Multicultural Arts Victoria as an Ambassador for Latin Arts in the 2002 Melbourne Festival, with World Vision and the Cuban Embassy which he holds a good relationship with their ambassador to Australia.
