Kelly Mendoza

Kelly Mendoza is Director of Professional Development for Common Sense Education. She oversees the professional development program, including developing learning paths for digital learners and leaders. She develops multimedia courses, tutorials, training materials, webinars, and has produced 100+ videos to help educators elevate digital learning in their classrooms. She also oversees the certification program, in which educators who reflectively teach with tech and incorporate digital citizenship are recognized for their work. With a focus on digital learning and leadership, digital citizenship, digital literacy, media literacy, parent education, and building a positive school culture around technology, Kelly aims to help students, teachers, and parents harness the potential of technology for learning ... and life. Project highlights include:

-On the Pepper professional learning platform, developed self-paced, asynchronous, mobile courses for educators on digital citizenship. (2016)

-Created the first Ambassador program of high-performing Common Sense Certified Educators committed to sharing Common Sense Education's mission. (2015-present)

-Wrote theK-12 Digital Literacy & Citizenship Curriculumfor Common Sense Education, including developing theiBooks Textbookversion of the curriculum. (2010-2013)

Prior to Common Sense Education, through her work at the Media Education Lab at Temple University, Kelly produced teacher and parent education resources for PBS Frontline's Digital Nation and Growing Up Online. Before the 2008 presidential election, she developed Access, Analyze Act: A Blueprint for 21st Century Civic Engagement for PBS Teachers. She also developed media literacy curriculum and interactives for students, including My Pop Studio. She taught media studies and communication courses at Temple University, Ursinus College, University of Colorado at Denver, and Regis University. She has a PhD in Media and Communication from Temple University.
