My name is Kelly Guthrie and I am left-handed. I do almost everything with my left-hand. From holding my fork, to throwing a ball, to petting my black lab, I guess you could say I do everything I enjoy with my left-hand. Everyone thinks it’s great that I am left-handed and some are even jealous. I am not sure why because some places discriminate against us left-handers. I have a lot of anxiety from looking for a left-handed desk in a classroom. 200 desks and one row all the way to the left side, front of the classroom with a right-handed individual sitting in it. At dinner, I have to sit in a certain spot avoiding hitting elbows with other members of the table trying to enjoy their dinner. I am still not used to shaking hands, and most importantly, never ask me to cut something with scissors for you. I actually have a fear of dying from a product made solely for right handed people since over 2500 left-handed people a year die from this. Although I am not a girl who will be operating heavy machinery or something that could kill me, I still worry about it. Although being left-handed is something minor to worry about, I still adjust my everyday life to make it work.
