Hi, I’m Kelly Micah.

About Me

I am a Bachelor of Education student in the Faculty of Education, with a strong interest in Educational Psychology. My passion for education is deeply rooted in the community where I grew up, a place that is often overlooked and underestimated by those on the outside. Growing up alongside children with incredible potential inspired me to pursue a career where I can help create learning environments in which every child from my community feels seen, valued, and capable of succeeding. As an active member of my community, I hope to contribute to the lives of the learners growing up there today by helping them recognise their strengths, believe in their abilities, and realise that their futures are filled with possibility. Beyond my studies, I work as a tutor at local high schools, where I offer additional academic support to learners, including free matric revision classes and guidance with university applications. Supporting young people through these opportunities has strengthened my belief that education can open doors and transform lives.

Beyond my academic interests, I believe in being a well-rounded individual. I am an avid reader with a love for classics, thrillers, biographies, and historical literature. History has always fascinated me, particularly the rich stories found in Greek, Roman, Norse, and Egyptian mythology, and I enjoy exploring how these narratives continue to influence our understanding of society and culture.

I also have a deep appreciation for drama and theatre. During my time as a tutor at my former high school, I had the privilege of directing and producing a stage production that was later performed at the Market Theatre. I have also had the opportunity to audition for and appear in pilot television productions. Theatre has taught me the importance of creativity, collaboration, empathy, and confidence, qualities that continue to shape both my personal and professional life.

As I continue my journey as an educator, I hope to combine my passion for Educational Psychology, literature, history, and the arts to create meaningful learning experiences that inspire young people especially those from my own community, to believe in themselves, embrace their potential, and pursue the opportunities they deserve.
