Hello! I am the Rev. Dr. Kelly Murphy Mason, an educator, minister, Spiritual Director, and writer. My varied and extensive ministries have all been devoted to integrating spiritual wisdom with psychological insight in the sacred service of helping individuals, healing communities, and fostering human flourishing. In 2022, I affiliated with the historic Arlington St. Church in Boston, MA as its Community Minister for Spiritual Direction.

Since my ordination by The Community Church of New York, Unitarian Universalist in 2006, I have occupied a host of roles in higher education, counseling centers, and faith communities in both New York and New England. In the past, I served as Senior Minister at the UU Society of Wellesley Hills; I was also Managing Director for the Psychotherapy & Spirituality Institute in Manhattan and taught on the faculties of Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University, two of my alma maters. Today I am a mentor/trainer in the Apprenticeship Program at the Phoenix Center for Spiritual Direction.

In addition to being ordained clergy with full ministerial fellowship, I am an Interim Religious Professional (UUA), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), certified Pastoral Counselor (AAPC/ACPE), and a member of both the UU Spiritual Direction Network (UUSDN) and Spiritual Directors International (SDI). I am a coordinator for the Greater Boston SDI Regional Gathering of Spiritual Directors, as well.

Over the years, I have been a panelist and presenter at local, national, and international programs for colleges, psychotherapy institutes, professional organizations, retreat centers, and hospitals. I have specialized training in trauma treatment, couples counseling, life coaching, and spiritually-informed therapy. I am the convener and Chair of the Spirituality & Flourishing Interest Group now in the Flourishing Network at the Harvard Human Flourishing Program.

Print and online publications have interviewed me; I have published pieces in the academic and popular press and am anthologized essayist, in addition. A piece of mine titled ‘Like Trees: Cultivating Spiritual Practices’ is soon slated for publication. I am a book reviewer for the SDI journal Presence, too.
