Kelly Shanahan

A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, Kelly Shanahan served as a Proctor and a Student Counselor, as well as playing ice hockey and lacrosse, and running cross country. While in high school, Ms. Shanahan studied abroad at Cambridge University, pursuing coursework in public speaking and creative writing. There, she was selected by faculty members to argue in a public debate held at Cambridge Union. She also studied abroad in the Bahamas at The Island School for a semester, working on a sustainable, off-shore, aquaculture research project. After high school, she secured admission to Stanford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology with a focus on Biotechnology and Bioethics and a minor in English Literature. Kelly Shanahan continued studying at the institution, recently earning her Master of Arts in Sociology.
At present, Kelly Shanahan serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Delivering Hope, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California. Delivering Hope collects usable, excess medical supplies from U.S. hospitals and redistributes them to maternity wards in developing countries. At the nonprofit, she manages all finances, including budgeting and fundraising. Last year, Kelly Shanahan raised more than $18,000 for the organization and remains busy preparing fundraisers for its summer activities.
Recreationally, Kelly Shanahan enjoys horseback riding and spent a number of years on the Stanford Equestrian Team. At present, she continues to pursue this passion at Willowtree Farm and competes on the national circuit for hunter and jumper competitions. She also enjoys watching football and scuba diving.
