Student, Athlete, and Dog Mom in Surprise, Arizona
Hello Everyone! Let me start this introduction by saying that I am very excited for this course and its unique opportunities! Now about me...
I am a full time student, athlete, coach and dog mom currently living in Surprise, Arizona. All of those things typically keep me really busy, thus in my spare time, I tend to sleep and binge watch Netflix. It may seem counter-intuitive to what I just said, but my favorite thing to do is stay active. I love to be outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing, you name it! Traveling has become an increasingly important part of my life. I am always up for an adventure. Some other interests of mine are food and coffee. I rely heavily on both of those things to get me through the day!
Before moving to Surprise, I lived in a small agricultural community in Northern Wyoming. I was born and raised in Powell, Wyoming and later attended junior college there where I received a degree in Physical Education. During my time there, I worked at the Child Care Center as a work study. This is the place that I realized how much I loved working with children. After working here, I decided I wanted to be an elementary teacher. I found Ottawa University of Surprise through volleyball. My coach from Wyoming know my current coach and got us in contact with each other. After talking to a variety of schools, Ottawa seemed to be the perfect fit, so here I am now!
Now for the more technical part of the assignment. Growing up, English was taught in many ways for me. The English language, in my opinion, is one of the more complex to learn because it doesn't always make a whole lot of sense. We have odd rules like, I before E except after C. Then we have words like "weird" that defy that rule. One word can mean several different things. Too, two, and to all sound the same, but all have different contexts! In school, we talked a lot about these types of rules in the English language because it can be very confusing. Most of the time, I have seen and experienced the PPP (Presentation, Practice, Perform) model of teaching and learning English, as well as other languages.
I cannot wait to start this journey!
