Kelsey Steiger

Hello, my name is Kelsey! I am currently a freshman at The Ohio State University. I grew up in Stow, Ohio which is close to Akron. I enjoy doing things like powerlifting, volleyball and playing with my dogs.

My biggest strengths from StrengthsQuest are Developer, Belief, Inclusion and Positivity. These did not surprise me but they did help me reflect upon myself. It was no surprise that developer was my number one strength because I see the best in everyone. I am always trying to help people. My strengths fits me because I am majoring in Special Education, I think that all of these qualities are necessary to be a successful special education teacher and will help me reflect upon myself later.

I learned that I am surprisingly pretty good about managing my time. During the time management activities, I was able to look at my daily schedule and see what I could change. I found that I am actually good at managing my time, and spending a good amount of time. This allowed me to see that I am best at getting things done on Monday and Tuesday, and also when I am by myself. I can use time management activities in the future to plan out my days when as a teacher. Time management will be a very useful skill for the rest of my life.

I also learned about my experience so far at Ohio State. In the lessons from a first year buckeye, I was able to reflect upon how my perception of college has changed since I have been here. At first I was scared to come to college and thought that I would have no one to support me, but I was wrong. I have learned that you have many people to support you such as professors, peers, advisors and resident advisors. There is a large support system for students no matter what the problem is. I also learned that you can create some really good friendships while in college. I hope to be able to use the skills I learn throughout my next four years for the rest of my life.
