Kel Stones

Hi My name is Kelly and I am from the UK. I currently live and work in Dubai as a Foundation StageTeacher (kids are aged 4-5) for GEMS Wellington Academy - Al Khail and I am also the Head of Digital Learning. I really enjoy my job! I am no stranger to the Middle East after spending my entire childhood growing up here and a lot of my adulthood visiting my family who after over 30 years still live in the Gulf! I am a mum to 2 beautiful girls who are in Dubai with me.

Before I began my teaching career I worked for the local housing department in my home town working with vulnerable and young parents who were struggling to access education as well as cope with the demands of pregnancy and bringing a child up usually single handedly. I have worked with adults and children with special needs and learning difficulties and I also worked with SureStart working with hard to reach children who needed additional support with numeracy, literacy and physical development. I use these life experiences and it just makes me more passionate about educating young children and bestowing into them a love of learning in the hope that they will become life-long learners and contributing members of the community.

I enjoy outdoor activity mainly with my own children, bike rides, playing at the park, relaxing on the beach as well as being creative - my household is rarely without the shimmer of glitter somewhere!!
