Hello! I'm Kem; Mom, Amazon seller and Neo-entrepreneur.

I started my Amazon business in mid 2014. At the time, I was an underemployed IT professional. The school where I’d been working for years as a Network Administrator closed. The work I was finding after that was minor and sporadic.

It was an extremely stressful time. I wasn’t bringing in enough money to cover the bills or pay the mortgage. We cut out all luxuries. No cable tv. No dining out. No movie nights. I sold personal items including jewelry, handbags and furniture to help cover our basic expenses.

Then, in the spring of 2014 I listened to a podcast where someone described a business they started, selling on Amazon. As soon as I heard about it, I knew it was the answer I’d been looking for. I began right away. Literally, the next day I went out and looked for product to sell. I had very little money to invest, so my first shipments included a lot of used books from my own home and a few things I procured from the local warehouse club. I can still remember how excited I was to get the first sale. Cha-Ching! It made me so happy and confirmed that my new venture was indeed doable.

So, that is how I started. Working IT during the day and building my Amazon “side hustle” in the evenings and on the weekends.

In 2015, my first full year selling on Amazon, I sold about $200,000 in product working from home in my spare time.

What a difference a year makes.

I’m starting sellingontheside.com to help others who are tired of living paycheck to paycheck start their own ecommerce businesses.

I’ll be offering tutorials, tips, tricks and guidance. Please join me there.
