My main passion revolves around the planning and design of cities, so teaching full-time in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning program and directing the Master of Urban Design program at CU Denver is both a professional endeavor and an opportunity to immerse myself in something that I truly love. My teaching focuses on the historical growth and evolution of cities and urban design.

For many years I've been active in Denver’s planning and design communities, having served on boards and committees for organizations such as the Denver Streets Partnership, Denver Architecture Foundation, Downtown Denver Partnership, and YIMBY Denver.

Perhaps I am best known as the guy who owns and runs the DenverInfill and DenverUrbanism blogs, which offer news, information, and commentary on infill development and sustainable urbanism in the Mile High City.

In addition to teaching, international travel, and exploring cities, I’m often giving presentations on Denver’s urban design to organizations throughout the region and leading walking tours in the Downtown Denver area.
