My main passion revolves around the planning and design of cities, so teaching full-time in the Master of Urban and Regional Planning program at CU Denver is both a professional endeavor and an opportunity to immerse myself in something that I truly love. My teaching focuses on the historical growth and evolution of cities, planning methodologies, urban form, and downtown revitalization.

I’m very active in Denver’s planning and design communities, serving on the board of directors of Denver Civic Ventures, Union Station Advocates, and the Denver Architectural Foundation. I’m also a member of the Urban Land Institute, the American Planning Association, and the Congress for the New Urbanism.

Perhaps I am best known as the guy who owns and runs the DenverInfill and DenverUrbanism blogs, which offer news, information, and commentary on infill development and sustainable urbanism in the Mile High City.

In addition to teaching, blogging, and exploring cities, I’m often giving presentations on Denver’s urban history and current development to organizations throughout the region, and I can be frequently found leading walking tours in the Downtown Denver area.
