The 10-Year Quilt, forthcoming publication in 2014

This blog serves first to introduce readers to my books. Closer By The Mile, the endearing true story of the Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon for cancer research, came out in the summer of 2013.
I expect to publish a full-length work of narrative nonfiction in the winter of 2014-15. This book conveys the stories of several families who reclaimed their lives after catastrophic loss and trauma by taking on a mission greater than themselves. While enduring disparate, wrenching experiences, their recoveries are ultimately inspiring. The 10-Year Quilt includes the accounts of advocates for improved safety on college campuses, including student survivors of sexual assault; a brother of a volunteer firefighter who rushed into the World Trade Center to help during 9/11; and three brothers who survived the Holocaust and continued to give witness 60 years later, and others.
In this blog I also strive to create a space for expressions and dialogue about perseverance and people committed to helping others as they heal themselves. Thanks for checking it out!
