I left school at an early age and joined the Brithish Merchant Navy. I sailed from Burnt Island Scotland as a seaman on the MV Afric on it's maiden voyage to Australia via South Africa. After travelling up and down the coast of Australia I was so impressed with this country that I decided to leave the ship in Sydney. I proceeded to outback Queensland and worked on a sheep station amd had to learn the hard way how to ride a horse. I Joined the Australian Army and volunteered to serve in the Korean War. Since married and have two children three grandsons and now one great grandchild. Now retired and Imy life is devided by long distance running, writing http://www.blurb.com/b/3444281-ken-saunders-retiree-the-older-i-get-the-faster-iand family.
