I don't want to bore everyone, so I shall keep this very brief: I was born, I went to school, I worked, and I am now retired.
Perhaps I should say a bit more than that. I am an Orthodox Christian - most people think I am Jewish because the word Orthodox usually refers to very Traditional Jews. Of course, we must remember that Jesus was a Jew; one who knew the Traditions and Teachings of Moses and the Prophets. Orthodoxy has kept the teachings of Jesus for the past 2,000 years.
Started living in Tempe, Arizona, on February 7th, 2016. I had to leave Baguio and the Philippines after 5 years. I miss the people I met and the ones I love so much.
Conversations about philosophy, theology, Church teachings, and Christian values are important for me. I would like to learn more about the Desert Fathers as well as the Fathers and writings by the older Christian philosophers and theologians. I have read some of Augustine's writings.
I enjoy classical music. Bach, Mozart, Ravel, Brahms, Schubert, Rachmaninoff, and, of course, Beethoven are the composers I like best. I prefer concertos more than a full symphony, but there are symphonies I like, too, such as Beethoven's Fifth, and Schubert's Ninth. Itzhak Perlman and Andre Segovia are two instrumentalists (soloists) I enjoy. I have heard Perlman in person, when he was the guest conductor at the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. In addition to the San Francisco Symphony, I like to listen to the Cleveland Symphony (as I recall, Cleveland was the first Symphony Orchestra to have a woman musical director many years ago), and the Boston Symphony. The Boston Pops was also a great orchestra, which I liked more when John Williams was its musical director.
When I was in high school and still playing clarinet, I liked the Strauss Waltzes. Listening to Andre Reieu (I know I spelled that wrong) is very relaxing and enjoyable.
Thanks for dropping by.
