I am a longstanding (and still standing!) computer software author, the father of five sons and a helicopter pilot since 1994. I am a strong advocate of the extensive use of control tables in program design to simplify code, improve comprehensibility and strengthen reliability.
I produced several commercially successful software products including OLIVER & SIMON (CICS and batch test/debugging systems for IBM mainframes) and Command-CICS (Macro to Command level run-time translator). I was also responsible for programming a CICS IBM mainframe based, fully interactive, WYSIWYG spreadsheet for I.C.I. at Northwhich, Cheshire,UK in 1974 .
