Kendall Walters

I'm an award-winning multimedia journalist who knows how to tell compelling stories.

I can shoot video, record audio and edit both. I also know web design basics, and newspaper layout and production. I'm a writer, photographer and editor who can do a bit of everything and bring it all together to create exceptional journalism packages. I'm basically a one-woman newsroom.

I've worked for print, online and broadcast media alike and loved it all. I started my journalism career in community newspapers – so I know how to think local and create content that really matters to the audience – and branched out from there, adding a variety of multimedia abilities to my skill set.

In October 2011, I received a Canadian Online Publishing Award – best video or multimedia feature – for the story "Ancient Musqueam language revived through hip hop."

I also have a background in journalism outside of my experience in the field. I recently graduated with my Master of Journalism from the University of British Columbia. I also hold a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Thompson Rivers University, where I won medal in journalism for having the highest GPA in my class.
