Kenny Lew
Career Coach in Singapore
I spent a large part of my 19 year career in the Innovation and Enterprise space in Singapore, both in public and private sectors, nurturing passionate entrepreneurs to build and launch their tech startups.
But in 2012, after suffering from "corporate cancer", I decided to hang up my corporate suit to start my own business and do what I truly loves. Don't get me wrong, I've always loved my job. But I learnt never to love your company. In that way, I'm no longer dependent on them for my career happiness.
Today, I finds great joy and satisfaction in helping people discover their talents and equipping them with the relevant skills, mindset and network to succeed in their careers in a fast-changing world.
I'm also a believer in giving back to society, hence I am currently mentoring - pro bono basis - some young adults from Mentorhub, a non-profit initiative in Singapore. My goal is to see young people unlock their talents and discover their life and career directions. I've also spoken to youths and young adults on "3 Questions to Ask Before You Choose Your Career". You can find my workshops on the Programstab.
Since 2016, I've conduct workshops at WDA such as "Design a Career You Love", a course I personally developed based on business model thinking. I've also conducted "The Art of Networking & Elevator Pitch", "Overcoming Barriers to Employment". Other courses that I regularly do is the "Business Model Canvas" and "Pitching to Investors" workshops for aspiring entrepreneurs. The canvas helps them to create and test their ideas, leading to viable and scalable business models.
To bring likeminded people together, I've also started Career Conversations where people come share their career journeys and inspire each other with their unique experiences. Find out more on our Facebook page and Meetup.com page. You are welcome to join us at our monthly meetups!
I am a certified Jobs and Career Transition Coach and I also completed the Advanced Certification for Training and Assessment(ACTA) from Workforce Development Agency (now Workforce Singapore).
