Kent Mitchell
Kent Mitchell was the guy that was good in art class AND math class. His creative, analytical mind has resulted in a career as a creative communicator and brand evangelist... a business owner and business strategist... a writer of script and novel... a performer and producer... a dreamer and a rock.
In January 2012, Jossy-Bass/Wiley released Kent's first book, Have a Nice Conflict: How to Find Success and Satisfaction in the Most Unlikely Places, a highly-acclaimed business fable he co-authored with associates at Personal Strengths Publishing (PSP). In his current role as Vice President of Communications for PSP, Kent plans and executes marketing and brand messaging, and plays a key role in organizational strategy. He has also been the event manager of Personal Strengths' biennial conference. Before joining Personal Strengths in 2005, he ran ICON Image Communications, a 12-man advertising design agency in the Los Angeles area.
Kent is an award-winning designer, playwright and writer. His corporate writing endeavors include scripts for TV and radio advertising as well as corporate promotional and training videos. He has had multiple stage plays produced including In The Name of The In-Laws and 12 Plays of Christmas — a show produced in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Mentoring is a cause that Kent has actively supported for a number of years. The student he has been mentoring for 5 years will be starting college next fall (the first in his family to do so).
Kent's skill in building relationships and seeing the big picture, gives him the unique ability to craft communication that is clear, relevant, and powerful. He is a focused, audience-minded creator who is driven by a desire to seek out what is possible and be of contribution to the world around him.
In his off time, Kent likes playing tennis and kayaking the waterways of Long Beach, California. He continues to hone his storytelling skills, writing screenplays and taking classes. But his favorite pastime is playing dad to his son, Will — by far his most impressive creation.
