Kenwyn S. Williams
Politician in East Orange, New Jersey
I am first and foremost a husband and a father. I have been a bonafide resident of East Orange, New Jersey for more than (10) years. With a Bachelor of Science degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY), I have, for over (20) years worked in the legal services industry.
My career has allowed me to work with many of the largest law firms in the country. I have worked in different disciplines of law including commercial litigation, intellectual property, immigration and other areas.
As a volunteer, I assist clients on a pro bono basis with avoiding foreclosure and immigration matters.
The economy has not always been kind to our family. We suffered through the economic downturn that plagued the entire City and country.
On the morning after the November Presidential election, my 10 year old daughter asked me a resounding question that the entire nation and world was asking: "How could Donald Trump win?".
One of her most difficult questions that I have had to answer to date. I gave my 10 year old a big hug and told her that everything will be fine. As she always says when I have had to re-assure her in the past, she asked the follow up “Are you sure daddy?” As I have always responded to her in the past, I told her that “daddy will make sure that everything will be fine".
From that day, with an acute consciousness, I have been trying to figure out how to make "everything fine".
I have always said that the best we can do for our children is to work very hard and give them the best that money can buy.
East Orange needs business people with the acumen to communicate with America’s CEO’s and Washington, on long term strategies to get the City to a level of economic stability without displacing its residents.
We cannot keep depending on the status quo to advance East Orange or to bring about positive change in the socioeconomic lives of its residents.
As Mayor, with a tireless work ethic, I intend to collaborate with the legislature to develop strategies to create other revenue streams that will trickle down to invigorate the lives of our residents by creating jobs, reducing taxes and developing our infrastructure and quality of life.
It is with that mission in mind that I have decided to run for Mayor of East Orange.
I am running a progressive grass-roots campaign to appeal to the residents of East Orange that share my concerns as theirs and are willing to simply put East Orange First.
