Kenzie O'Connor

I am a very determined and driven 20 year old who works as hard as they can to make it in my industry!

Growing up with parents who were in the building materials their whole lives, I fell very closely in their footsteps. Working at their store (Gananoque Home Hardware) has really motivated me to one day become the owner. I started out as a young teen stalking the shelves two days a week. Moving up to working the cash, making sales, and providing excellent customer service has lead me to my current position of Manager in the Home Furniture department. I am faced with customer complaints that need to be taken care of, special ordering merchandise for the store, creating displays, making sure daily tasks are being done, customers are being taken care of, and scheduling are only a handful of the things I do in a day.

Being currently enrolled in my second year in the Management and Entrepreneurship program at Algonquin College, I am learning the essential skills needed to one day takeover from my parents. This program has taught me a lot about how to run a business and I have applied many things that I learned already to my parents business. I have created and maintained a very successful Facebook page, created various marketing plans that were a huge success for the business, and have brought new management philosophies to our store.

When I'm not working, I enjoy:

-Spending time with family and friends

-Working out and living a healthy lifestyle

-Researching trends (whether it be in my industy, business in general, or in the community)

-Walks with my dogs Roseie (Chihuahua) and Gracie (Teacup Poodle)

-Decorating our new house and coming up with design ideas
