Kerry Starchuk

Kerry Starchuk, a fourth-generation resident of Richmond, British Columbia, takes pride in her role as a mother, grandmother, and active community member.

While her sons were playing hockey, Kerry Starchuk got involved by volunteering as the manager of the teams and organizing a bantam-level hockey tournament. She has additionally volunteered with activities at her children's schools, including fundraisers, field trips, grade 7 graduation events, and helping out wherever it was necessary.

Committed to environmental awareness, Ms. Starchuk has taken several courses on sustainable living at the Richmond City Hall. She shares this knowledge with family, friends, and the broader community. She has also joined in a past health awareness campaign as a canvasser.

Reflecting a lifetime love for gardening, Kerry Starchuk has volunteered with a local beautification project, evaluating community members' gardens and encouraging the greening of her town. A supporter of local farmers and the sustainable practices they represent, she has assisted elementary school children in learning about nutrition and growing food to eat through a local schoolyard project.

Ms. Starchuk emphasizes positive interactions in her daily life. She maintains a sense of spiritual and community awareness that encompasses core values of forgiveness and respect for others. She has also assisted in helping out with different projects when her church has required her assistance. Ms. Starchuk has been gratified to see her values passed on to her children, with one of her sons coaching youth sports teams and notably winning Coach of the Year distinction.

In her free time, Kerry Starchuk enjoys bicycling in Richmond's abundant natural areas. She also enjoys exploring, looking to find what the town or a local event has to offer, to see if she can learn or be inspired by it. With an interest in home entertaining and crafts, she shares her cooking and hospitality with family and acquaintances.
