Greetings, I’m Kesha. I’m a student living in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. I am a fan of food, fitness, and cats. I am also a mother to an amazing son. He keeps me on my toes and focused on my goals. I recently got the opportunity to return to North Carolina Central University to get one step closer to my goal of being a nurse. I am passionate about making sure that everyone receives quality care. Nurses have the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of everyone they come into contact with and I am looking forward to that opportunity.

I am currently an employee of Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. I take care of clients with severe to profound developmental disabilities and it is truly a passion of mine. I am an advocate for these individuals. I work with them to ensure that they can work as independently as possible and have the highest quality of life. It is important to me to educate others about how to interact with individuals with disabilities to rid them of any prior misconceptions they have about them. It can be hard to understand sometimes but with the proper knowledge, it is possible to integrate them in with the rest of us.

A quote I live by is "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." Things are going to happen in life that we cannot control and that can be frustrating. However, we do have control over how we react to these situations. It is up to us to make that change and keep moving forward towards our goal. It is important to remain calm and not stress out over these events because things always get better. When you stress you give the power to the situation or the people who hurt you and then you’ll be stuck on that situation. So its best to let it go and keep moving forward
