Most kids have what I call "linguistic brains" or the innate abiliity to read. But at least 20% of our students do not. These individuals need to receive a lot more information about how the English language is constructed and believe me, there's so much to learn. English is complicated, especially when it comes to spelling! I have started a non-profit organization called Switch-id-Up that is providing a tutor for any student who demonstrates a need for specific instruction in reading.
