Consultant, Artist, and Teacher in Oakland, California

Kevan Peabody is a dynamic music director,

performer, and historian whose devotion to

gospel music has shaped congregations and

audiences across the globe. He holds a Bachelor of

Arts in Black Studies from San Francisco State

University and a Certificate in Religion & Sexuality

from the Pacific School of Religion, with additional

musical training at Fisk University in Nashville,

Tennessee, and Southern Illinois University

Edwardsville. He currently serves as Director of

Music for Mingleton Temple Church of God in Christ

in Oakland, California, and as a music consultant for

the Third Baptist Church of San Francisco.

A respected voice in the gospel music community,

Kevan holds membership in the Gospel Music

Workshop of America (GMWA) and the National

Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses (NGCC),

and serves as a voting member of the Recording

Academy (the Grammys). His travels across the

Americas and Europe as both performer and

historian have deepened his mastery of gospel

music’s storied legacy — expertise he has shared in

interviews with acclaimed journalist Bob Marovich,

including “Peace Be Still: How James Cleveland and

the Angelic Choir Created a Gospel Classic” and “The

History of Malaco Records.

Kevan has also served as Music Director for Saint

Leo the Great School in Oakland and continues to

mentor emerging artists through Twinkem

Productions. A gifted choral director, songwriter, and

musician, he is set to release his highly anticipated

project,

“Standing on the Promises,

” in fall 2026.
