Salford

Born in what was called Hope Hospital Salford but now Salford Royal, I was brought up in a 2 up 2 down terracce off Hankey Park Salford and lived at 34 Persey Street. Cobbled streets coupled with local corner shops and factories opposite, I shared the house with Mum, Dad, 3 other Brothers and my Mums brother. All this in a house that only provided one living room come diner, one kitchen with an outside loo, and 2 bedrooms. This meant we all had to share a bedroom with our parents, and Mums brother had his own room. We didn't have a great lot yet from what my memory serves me, I recall we were very happy. Neighbours would often nip in for a cuppa or borrow some milk and sugar, well I say borrow, we never saw any of it back, but that's how it was in those days. Why am I telling you this. Well I was brought up on old fashioned morals and virtues and how I was brought up by my Mum & Dad and that attitude always saw me in good stead. So I can hold my head up high and say hand on heart I have always been, honest, reliable, shown empathy towards others, even when maybe some people would say though don't deserve it. I have always lived by the ethics that evryone is different, and not all have the know how nor been as lucky as I was with the way I was taught rights from wrongs. I have my Dad's sense of humour and caring heart and my Mums sensible head. Yet here I am for the first time in my working life struggling to find employment since June 2010. It seems all my past endeavours and moral standing appear to count for nothing today. It's a frightening world out there and it feels more so these days you are on your own where employment is concerned. My partner and I of 23 years in May 2013 have clung on to our mortgage and sanity after going through hell for the last 2 years besides unemployment which was caused by the credit crunch and ongoing recession and no fault of our own, but thats another story. I live in hope at 54 and in good health that my working days are not over already, though it does feel that way at present. If you live by the standards I have mentioned and can offer me a job in Administrational duities I'd be more than happy to hear from you. I was in the shipping industry from 1975-1990 and then Container Transport until 2010. The rest as they say is history. Thanks for reading if you did.
