After 15 years, Kevin Mino debutes his figure studies in watercolors.

His process is a long one, he states. He first puts down the initial figure lines in pencil, and they have to be just right. They provide the foundation of the piece, and as they tend to be abstract, they have to be solid lines so that the viewer can eventually intuit the figure. Next comes the ink portion. Mino prefers a fine-tipped marker for his dots. "I sit around for hours, days, sometimes months at a time making dots," explains Mino. "It takes a lot of patience to not want to simply color in the space." The final step is the watercolor step. The watercolors are a way of expressing energy, the motion of the subtle body.

We are not just bodies, as Mino explained, we are energy. Whether we can see that energy or not, it is there. My use of watercolors is simply a way of expressing that.

Mino has debuted his watercolors galleries on FineArtAmerica.com. Each gallery dedicated to a specific color providing a great opportunity to seek out a single, beautifully illustrated piece of art in a color you connect with. Mino is expanding on this series to provide amazing variations on the energetic figure theme. He will be opening a "gallery" of multiple color prints, a more in depth expression of the synergistic and sometimes discordant energies within.
