Kevin Spurgaitis

Writer, Editor, and Filmmaker in Toronto

I am an award-winning journalist and multimedia producer.

Employed in the Canadian and overseas media for nearly two decades, I have researched and produced stories for magazines, newspapers, websites and broadcast channels, including The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, UC Observer, Broadview, Forbes, Inc., TVO.org, VICE Canada, CBC documentary teams, Bell Media's Fibe TV1 —and more.

I have a special interest in public health issues and human interest stories. In my tenure, I have interviewed prominent researchers, authors, NGO executives, public policy makers and Nobel Prize laureates, as well as international dignitaries, including Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams, then-UN Special AIDS Envoy Stephen Lewis and Lt. General Romeo Dallaire, the former force commander of the UN Mission to Rwanda. I have reported on the socio-economic tensions inside Toronto communities, Canada’s opioid crisis, the challenges of delivering humanitarian aid around the world post-9/11, the longstanding HIV/AIDS pandemic and the increase in youth suicides in Northern Ireland after the Troubles. For these and other stories, I have earned acclaim for journalistic excellence in both Canada and the U.S.

I now have my sights on directing my first short documentary.
