Kevin Duschenchuk

Kevin Duschenchuk brings years of relevant training to his work as a Chief Mate at Polar Tankers, Inc., where he oversees the transportation of bulk liquid crude oil. He manages the planning and execution of every bulk liquid transfer on the ship, which includes loading ANSCO at rates of more than 110,000 barrels per hour. Kevin Duschenchuk also handles all aspects of cargo transfer, including equipment associated with the transfer. Ensuring environmental and personal safety, he manages the deck department for a group of nine crewmembers. Concurrently, he serves as an Instructor at the Global Maritime and Transportation School at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Duschenchuk teaches courses at various levels, including conducting advanced-level trainings. He holds multiple certifications, including Master of Steam or Motor Vehicles of Any Gross Tons Upon Oceans, Medical Care Person in Charge, Ship Security Office, and Vessel Security Advisor. Kevin Duschenchuk earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation at the State University of New York Maritime College in Throgs Neck, New York. His concentration in international business developed his understanding of the global marketplace and prepared him for his current line of work. Kevin Duschenchuk began his career as a Third Mate, managing the transportation of refined products for Keystone Shipping Company. Prior to that, he served as a mate and dispatcher for Buchanan Marine LP, based in Port Washington, New York. Before accepting his current role, Kevin Duschenchuk served as a Second and Third Mate at SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., in Houston where he managed transportation of crude oil and refined products. Duschenchuk is versed in computers, and has experience working with Ocean Motions WSLP2, ABS NS5, and CargoMax. He is also a contributing author to Tanker Operations: A Handbook for the Person in Charge. The book acts as a primer and reference for both novices and veterans in the industry.
