Gainesville, FL USA

I've been in love with science for as long as I can remember. My parents nurtured my unnatural interest in the natural world, and I've enjoyed a long academic and professional career in the field.

I'm currently a professor at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. My work is on strawberry functional genomics and fundamental light signaling. I also enjoy communicating complex scientific topics to the public.

The long-term plan is to use science to improve food quality, safety, nutrition and availability. The goal is to help farmers, the environment and the consumer- especially the consumers that do not share our abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.
