My name is Kevin Haren: I work for the state of Maine and its Department of Public Health. Maine's health care system is one of the best in the world, and will continue to be. We are a leader in the nation for long-term care services. And more recently, Maine has taken the lead in implementing the Obama administration's health care reforms. The new health care law requires health insurance companies — to stop canceling coverage when a policyholder gets sick. Health insurers have said that they will stop wrongfully canceling patients. An investigative report by Reuters disclosed that the nation’s largest insurer, WellPoint, was targeting women who were recently diagnosed with breast cancer for cancelation of their health insurance- leading to some of the most recent reforms.
