Kevin McNulty, Sr

Kevin McNulty, Sr. grew up in Momence, Illinois, located in Kankakee County, Illinois. He is a local historian, author, musician, teacher, composer, and photographer. He spent twenty years teaching high school band and orchestra and has been in business for over thirty years. He established KMC Publishing Company, Inc in 2006.

He began his career as a high school music teacher in 1972, entered trade association management in 1987 where he also lobbied for business groups and acquired extensive experience in China helping American companies sell to the Chinese. He returned to music teaching from 2011 to 2016 and today operates his publishing company full-time.

He is the creator of the first online music performance assessment system for school music programs called “Score-Sheet with Insta-Rank” and is the author of eight books including an 800-page historical novel "Lt. Pat O’Brien,"(2013) about the famous American pilot from his hometown who flew for the British during World War I.

McNulty is the author of “Around Momence” (2007), publish by Arcadia Publishing, "Barns of Kankakee County" (2013), Finding Pat O’Brien (2014), “A Kid from Momence…Growing up After the War” (2014), “Assessing Music Performance…A Valid System for Measuring Student Performance and Growth” (2018), “Barns of Kankakee Country” Expanded Edition, (2019), “Barns of Will Country” (2021) and “Good Shepherd Manor…A Mission of Compassionate Care” (2021).

His publishing company, KMC Publishing Company based in Matteson, Illinois, has also published reprints of “Momence…the Making of a River Town, (1985) (2015), by Kay Hess, and “Tales of an Old Border Town and Along the Kankakee,” by Burt E. Burroughs, (1925) (2018).
