Online educator, researcher, and Administrator of higher education for 25 years responsible for areas in strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and student learning outcomes assessment, Dr. Riordan has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in mathematics, statistics, and research methods. In 2022, Dr. Riordan earned a certificate in Online Teaching and Learning program. Considered by many to be a change agent, Dr. Riordan employs the latest technologies with sound research methods to enhance and advance the mission of the academy.
Some of Dr. Riordan's more recent accomplishments include the implementation of a data warehouse and Business Intelligence reporting tools, grant awards of over 6 million dollars for student services, re-accreditation status with the Higher Learning Commission. Recently Dr. Riordan gained recognition for South Suburban College as Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the Department of Education. He has extensive experience in building capacity and talent within offices of institutional research and effectiveness and is available to consult with institutions both large and small to achieve their departmental missions.
Dr. Riordan's professional interests include research methodology, institutional research, survey design, strategic planning, leveraging business intelligence in higher education, and identifying areas of efficiency and effectiveness. He is experienced with numerous quantitative and qualitative techniques and can make any data approachable to general audiences. Dr. Riordan has hosted several webinars and has presented numerous topics that include best practices in business analytics, research methods, and outcomes assessment. He has a celebrated record of success in promoting cultures of assessment and building successful management teams.
Dr. Riordan is proficient in SPSS, Tableau BI, Microsoft Office and BI Tools, Access, Remark, SQL query language, KNIME and R studio. ERP experience with Colleague, Oracle, & Jenzabar systems. He has successfully leveraged data from a number of LMS platforms such as LiveText, BlackBoard, Moodle, and other learning platforms. He is also an expert in online assessment and curriculum design.
