Kevin Timochenko
Pennsylvania real estate developer Kevin Timochenko plays a much larger role in his community than simply buying and selling properties. He served on the Board of Directors for The Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce and Industry for a number of years. He was involved with Reading Clean and Sweep, a group of volunteers who spent Saturdays cleaning the city’s streets. Previously, Kevin Timochenko took part in the Boy Scouts of America’s annual fund-raising dinner. In 2005, Mr. Timochenko’s company asked its tenants to donate toys, which were then provided as Christmas gifts to the The Children’s Home of Reading.
The majority of Kevin Timochenko’s charitable efforts, however, have come through his affiliation with the Police Athletic League (PAL) of Greater Reading, Inc., which he has worked with for more than 10 years. When Mr. Timochenko began assisting the organization, it operated from a single building in poor repair. Now, thanks to the support of Kevin Timochenko, the group functions out of four buildings.
Kevin Timochenko’s association with PAL began when he noticed the number of children and teenagers in Reading who seemed to spend time sitting around, lacking guidance or structure to develop positive future plans. He decided to join PAL’s Board, and as a result, Mr. Timochenko spent countless hours over the next 10 years working to better the lives of his community’s children. Using his expertise in property management, he assisted with numerous building projects, such as construction of a new Center for the Arts. He improved and repaired one of PAL’s neglected buildings and negotiated a long-term sublet lease with a local Head Start program, ensuring the program had a home and that PAL enjoyed a constant source of revenue. He created and sponsored the PAL baseball team and two basketball teams. Mr. Timochenko arranged and provided funds for 50 children to attend summer camp and funded the camp during a time of financial trouble. These serve as just a few examples of Kevin Timochenko’s contributions to the Police Athletic League.
