Kate Freeman Vet

There are two things every veterinarian needs in order to succeed in the field: dedication and a love for animals. After years of schooling and intensive training, the job is highly demanding. No one knows this more than Kate Freeman, who has never considered it a 9-5 type of career. To her, the hours are never over.

Kate Freeman holds a DVM from North Carolina State University and is completing her residency in veterinary ophthalmology. She has been involved in several veterinary researches and studies, and often pioneers them herself. She has authored many scholarly papers and received quite a few research grants.

When she's not improving veterinary science through research, she is hard at work at her own practice. Freeman is very passionate about helping animals in need. This means both pets as well as wild animals who find themselves in harm's way. In her past, she worked on a ranch that rehabilitated injured mountain lions and wolves. She spent time in Florida treating dolphins, and loaned her expertise to the North Carolina zoo.

Kate Freeman is unique in that she acts as a veterinarian every hour of the day. Past office hours, and on call hours, she performs a number of community service programs and works with organizations. The price of animal surgeries can be staggering. The programs Freeman works with are dedicated to providing animal health care for families who can't otherwise afford it. This service is a godsend for many communities, since a frequent service is spaying and neutering. Without such programs, wild, feral strays would be a serious issue.

The passion Kate Freeman has for animals is unparalleled. She never lets an opportunity to assist an animal slip by. Her studies and practice have led her to a myriad of locales where she gained experience with new and exciting animals. Kate Freeman is dedicated to taking veterinary work outside of the 'animal hospital' and into the world where animals need help the most.
