Karen Gomez
Web Developer, streamer, and Mother in Bellevue, Nebraska
After being a full-time mom and full-time student and fighting poverty, I am finally reentering the workforce. With 22 years of mothering and several years of schooling under my belt I can effectively manage people, motivate people and find the most efficient way to do the job. My most recent classes were a business simulation called BSG. I was a part of a small team of managers for a multinational shoe company. We were able to make profits every year and overall increased output and profits without closing any factories. While not a "real" job, it gave me a taste of operating a company. I also have taken Smarterer tests to display my knowledge of various subjects.
I am currently brushing up on my web development skills to increase my value. I am learning Javascript, Ruby on Rails and more. I abandoned programming earlier on thinking that those skills were too hard for me to do, but I am determined to use my innate talent to quickly learn programming languages.
When not working or studying I enjoy spending time with my family, usually playing board games or video games together. I also knit furiously and read loads of books, both fiction and nonfiction. I try to learn at least one new thing every day because without learning, life is meaningless.
