Katie Gunning

I'm a Michigan born girl who moved to NYC eight years ago to follow her dreams and ended up finding the love of her life, who grew up in the same one-stoplight town. For eight years, I pounded the pavement in Manhattan, working high-stress jobs in Fashion and Entertainment. New York was my love affair and an intense one at that, but after years of giving all of myself to the relationship, I realized I was not getting enough back in return from the city I loved. My husband and I both have very strong family ties and knew that in order to truly be happy in the next stage of our lives, we would need to move back to the state that bore and raised us and contained the people we held so dear. We took the leap and have been back in Michigan for a couple months now paving the way for our next chapter. What we have realized most from our urban education is that in the end, nothing matters more than being surrounded by the people you love because everything else fades away with time.
