Khalid Al-Shahrani
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Energetic and dedicated educator with a wide range of professional and cultural experiences in Saudi Arabia and Australia. I taught English in private and public sectors, in school and university levels, in face to face and blended education environments. I have extensive experience working with students during my postgraduate studies in different capacities as a Club President, Student Representative and an Academic Advisor, in voluntary as well as university positions. I was also involved in a number of research and consultation projects as an eLearning consultant and cross-cultural team member.
My areas of interests are eLearning and International Education. This interest resulted in (and is a result of) a PhD in eLearning and around 8 years of living and studying overseas. Education sector (school and tertiary) in the Gulf region is changing dramatically after opening up to the world, as well as the unprecedented spending by the Gulf governments in the last decade.
In my current position at KAUST, I deal with the top decision-makers in Saudi universities in driving initiatives aimed at building capacities and top talent development and attraction.
